Enel Energy

Enel needed to enable their customers to better self manage their industrial energy usage and take proactive steps to be more efficient.

The Challenge

After significant customer requests to provide more tools to enable improved management of industrial energy usage, Enel needed to create both a product and technical strategy to enable the launch of a new platform.

How do we tackle a multi-country problem with strong technology & reduce risk?

  1. Enel's customers range across languages, industry, size and complexity. They needed to understand these unique needs, work directly with customers on potential solutions and design a product that best met these diverse requirements.

  2. As complex technology organization, we needed to architect and plan how to integrate this new product across existing reporting and control infrastructure.

  3. Beyond creating a web and mobile application, we needed to prepare a clear roadmap to continue expanding adoption, collecting feedback and driving the enterprise solution forward.

The Solution

Balancing bold, eye-catching visuals with practical functionality required innovative thinking and a deep understanding of the core customer problem. From there, our teams dug in to prepare a technical approach and long term project strategy. Then, we got building.

  1. Innovation Strategy: Before diving into the project itself, our strategy team worked directly with stakeholders to understand the problem from their perspective, outline a path forward and drive alignment across the business

  2. Customer Discovery & Design: Leveraging our Customer Experience Design team, we went directly to key customers to understand their needs, validate solutions and get iterative feedback. From there, the Digital Product Design teams brought those mockups to life.

  3. Architecture Planning: A holistic technology approach was created to ensure scalability and secure connections to the client's SSO & operating data feeds to power the product.

  4. Agile Development: Over 8 sprints, our team iteratively delivered the MVP and then continued to maintain and evolve the platform alongside customer feedback.
